Waterbom Bali – The spectacular water park

Waterbom Bali

The Waterbom Bali is a large water park in the south of Bali. Of course, such an attraction is not a compelling reason to travel to the Island of the Gods. However, if you are travelling with children in Bali and want to give them a fun day out, you can consider the Waterbom. But the park also has some attractions for adults. In the following, we will explain what the water park has to offer and whether a visit is worthwhile.

Where is the Bali Waterbom?

The Waterbom Bali water park is located near the centre of the popular coastal town of Kuta in the south of Bali. The Waterbom Bali was built in the middle of a then still green forest landscape, only about 150 metres from the sea. Since then, Kuta has grown to such an extent that the water park is located in the middle of the town. However, the park grounds have remained green.

What makes Waterbom Bali so special?

The Waterbom water park was built in the early 1990s in a green tropical landscape. The concept was always that nature would not have to give up its space, but that it could coexist with the water park. Accordingly, a successful combination of tropical greenery and fun swimming pool has been created. According to the park operator, over 50% of the green space was preserved and all of the park’s slides and attractions were built around the existing flora. Waterbom Bali describes itself as a botanical water park.

Attractions in the water park

Today, the water park covers an area of 3.8 hectares. According to its own information, the Waterbom currently offers its visitors 22 slides for young and old. Some of the slides are designed for adults only, so that the park is not only aimed at children. Nevertheless, even the youngest visitors get their money’s worth. Waterbom Bali advertises itself as the ‘perfect combination of thrills and relaxation’. On the one hand, visitors can find the adrenaline kick, for example on the steepest slide in Asia. On the other hand, they can also just relax and drift on the ‘lazy river’ through tropical gardens.

Sustainability

The issue of sustainability is becoming more and more important, especially on Bali. The Balinese Hindu philosophy Tri Hita Karana describes a harmony between people, nature and spirituality. This naturally raises the question of whether such a large water park really fits into the mindful world of Bali. The Waterbom operators believe it does. Nevertheless, they have implemented a concept for themselves to become more sustainable. According to the company, the water park operates a closed water cycle. In addition, in 2018, Waterbom Bali officially became Bali’s first carbon-neutral tourist attraction. A dedicated sustainability team will continue to develop further improvements in the future. A visit to Waterbom is therefore entirely justifiable.

Admission prices and opening hours

The prices for a visit to the water park are not exactly cheap. For children between the ages of 2 and 11, you have to plan on spending a little more than €20 when buying tickets on site. From the age of 12, adult prices are then applied, which are the equivalent of around €35 per person. There are discounted tickets for families, which are valid for two adults and two children.

Tip: There is usually a discount for online tickets. So if you buy your tickets in advance on the Waterbom website, you can save about 15%. Click here to go directly to the park’s website: ticket purchase.

The Waterbom is open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Conclusion: Is a visit to the Waterbom Bali worthwhile?

If you are looking for a thrill between cultural excursions in Bali, Waterbom is the place for you. The spectacular slides offer everyone great fun, from pure adrenaline to moderate excitement. Many of the slides are also suitable for children, making the water park a great place for a family outing. Only the high entrance fees can be a little disappointing. But if you consider that the park has put a lot of effort into environmentally friendly and sustainable operations, you should turn a blind eye if necessary and just enjoy a day at Waterbom.
