Green Bowl Beach is a very small sandy beach in the south of Bali. It is a bit out of the way of the tourist centres and is therefore usually only visited by a few travellers. In the following article, you will learn what makes Green Bowl Beach so special, where exactly it is located and what you can experience there.
Where is Green Bowl Beach located?
Pantai Green Bowl is located on the south coast of the Bukit Peninsula. It is located in the middle of the coastal strip of southern Bukit. As the crow flies, Green Bowl Beach is about 14 kilometres south of the airport. There is no real village behind the beach, but a lot of green and undeveloped land, which is lined with beautiful accommodation.
The journey from Denpasar Airport to Pantai Green Bowl takes about half an hour to an hour and thirty minutes. From the Uluwatu Temple, you should plan on about 20 to 30 minutes. The journey from Nusa Dua is similarly short.
Admission is charged at the access road to the car park. A small fee is charged for both people and scooters or cars.
The steep way to the beach
The Green Bowl Beach is located at the foot of a high cliff landscape. Of course, you don’t have to climb down these cliffs. There is a comfortably built staircase with about 320 steps down to the beach. From the stairs, you already have a great view of the sea and the waves breaking in an offshore reef.
As pleasant as the descent is, the ascent after visiting the beach is just as exhausting. When you have climbed the last step, you can be glad not to be soaked in sweat.
What you can do on the beach
The beach particularly scores with its seclusion and natural surroundings. Special activities, such as surfing, are not offered here. The Pantai Green Bowl is therefore more of a destination for travellers seeking peace and quiet.
Relaxing at Green Bowl Beach
The small Green Bowl Beach has no infrastructure, apart from the stairs leading down to it. There are no warungs or bars here. Only a few beach hawkers occasionally make their way to the beach. However, since it also happens that you don’t find any other visitors on the beach, it’s usually not worth the business.
Accordingly, in rare cases, you may have the Green Bowl Beach all to yourself and enjoy the peace and quiet. But even when there are other visitors, the beach is never overcrowded. The best conditions for a few relaxing hours.
Bathing at Green Bowl Beach
You should not expect to be able to swim or really bathe at Green Bowl Beach. At high tide, the beach can be completely submerged. At low tide, the reef, which begins just behind the beach, can get in the way of bathing fun. Of course, you can still go into the water for a quick cool down – preferably at mid-tide. But even then, you should definitely keep an eye on the currents and assess for yourself whether you should stay in the water.
Conclusion: Is Green Bowl Beach worth a visit?
The small Green Bowl Beach is a beautiful place in Bali that stands for peace and seclusion. Due to the limited space on the beach, there is no infrastructure in the form of bars or warungs. This means that it is usually very quiet and, on rare occasions, you can have the beach to yourself. Visiting Pantai Green Bowl is not without its dangers. You should definitely keep an eye on the tides and be sure to leave the beach at high tide. If you take this into account, you will be able to enjoy a wonderful beach.
