Where is the Bali Reptile Park located?
The Bali Reptile Park is located just outside the city limits of the Balinese capital Denpasar. The suburb called Singapadu is located just north of the city. The Bali Bird Park, the next animal attraction, is just a stone’s throw away from the Reptile Park.
It is relatively easy to get there from the popular tourist destinations in southern Bali. From the coastal town of Sanur, for example, it takes about 20 to 30 minutes. From Kuta, Seminyak or Canggu, it usually takes about an hour to get to the reptile park. The park can be reached a little faster from the highland town of Ubud. From here, it takes about 30 minutes.
What is there to see at the Reptile Park?
The Bali Reptile Park is home to around 250 animals, mostly from different regions of Indonesia. However, some of the reptiles also come from other parts of the world. The Reptile Park itself boasts the largest variety of species in Indonesia. More than 80 different species of reptiles can be discovered here.
Snakes
The Reptile Park has created a snake exhibit at a height created by nature. This is why it is also called the Snake Cave. It is home to a wide variety of venomous and non-venomous snakes and lizards. It is said to be home to the largest collection of venomous snakes in the world. In the snake cave, cobras, mambas and deadly vipers, among others, can be discovered in a very special atmosphere. One of the park’s biggest attractions is the 6-metre-long reticulated python.
Crocodiles
In addition to the variety of snakes, the Reptile Park also keeps some species of crocodiles. These include, for example, the saltwater crocodile (also known as the estuarine crocodile) or Sunda gharial, which are native to Indonesia.
However, these species also feel very comfortable in the tropical climate of Bali.
Lizards
Indonesia is known, among other things, for the Komodo dragon. This lizard, which can grow up to three metres long, is found exclusively in Indonesia and cannot be found in the wild anywhere else in the world. Of course, this special species should not be missing from the reptile park.
In addition to the impressively large Komodo dragons, you can also discover other, smaller monitor lizard species and many other lizards. These include, for example, iguanas, geckos and skinks.
Turtles
You can also see turtles in the reptile park. The species found in the park, which are mainly native to Southeast Asia, come in a wide variety of shapes and colours. In addition to turtles with their classic round shells, you can also see fringed turtles here, which look very special.
