B211a Visa Bali – Information & Overview

Bali Visa

If you are planning a longer stay between two and six months in Bali, you will need a B211a visa. The simple visa on arrival, which you don’t have to worry about in advance, is not sufficient for such a long period. For the B211a visa, an application must be made before departure. What requirements must be met for this visa, what costs are incurred and other important information can be found in the following article.

How do you apply for the B211a visa?

It is recommended to hire a visa agency to apply for the visa. These agencies are very experienced and know exactly what needs to be done. This way, you can avoid a lot of questions and potential stress.

In addition, visa agencies can easily find sponsors who are available for the visa applications. Finding a sponsor yourself is very complicated. So if you want to take the easy way, you can simply get your B211a visa through a professional visa agency.

Documents required for the B211a visa

The Indonesian authorities have set out certain requirements for the documents needed to apply for a B211a visa. The documents and evidence listed below must be provided. However, the first six points in the list only apply to applicants travelling to Bali or Indonesia for purely tourist reasons. For trips with a different purpose (e.g. business trips), a ‘sponsor’ must also be provided. More on this under the last sub-item.

Passport

Depending on the duration of the requested stay, the passport must still have a certain period of validity. If you apply for a single-entry visitor visa that allows you to stay for up to 60 days, your passport must be valid for at least another six months. If you apply for a visa that allows you to stay for up to 180 days, your passport must be valid for at least another twelve months.

Proof of financial means

In addition to the passport, proof of financial means is also required. A minimum amount of 2,000 US dollars or the equivalent in another currency must be demonstrated. This is to ensure that the cost of living during the stay is covered. Proof can be provided, for example, by a bank statement.

Return flight ticket

When applying for the B211 visa, proof of a return flight or a ticket for onward travel to another country must be provided. The date of the return journey or departure must, of course, match the duration of the visa applied for.

Passport photos

You also have to submit two passport photos for the B211a visa. These must be 4 cm x 6 cm and in colour. Black and white photos are not accepted.

Proof of vaccination against coronavirus

During the Corona period, proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 (at least two doses of vaccine) was required to obtain a visa. This requirement was lifted in spring 2023.

International health insurance

For the period of time you plan to stay in Bali or Indonesia, you must have existing international health insurance. It is best to request a corresponding certificate in English from your insurer.

Proof of a sponsor if necessary

When travelling for non-tourist reasons, you must also provide proof of a guarantor/sponsor in addition to the above. If you want to enter Bali or Indonesia for purely tourist purposes, you can skip this point.

Theoretically, a sponsor/guarantor can be organised by yourself. However, this is very time-consuming. We therefore recommend using a visa agency. They can easily organise a sponsor so that you do not have to deal with the search for a sponsor yourself.

Cost of the B211a visa

The cost of the B211a visa depends on the duration for which the visa is valid. The reason for the visit also affects the cost of the visa. Those travelling to Bali or Indonesia for tourist purposes must pay 1,500,000 IDR for a single entry visa, which is valid for 60 days.

A visitor’s visa that is not used for tourist purposes is subject to a higher fee. For example, if you apply for a single-entry visitor’s visa B211a for business reasons, you have to pay 2,000,000 IDR for a 60-day stay.

A single entry visa for a maximum of 180 days costs significantly more. The current cost of this is IDR 6,000,000.

Extension of the B211a visa

If the B211a visa has been applied for with a validity of 60 days, it is possible to extend the period of validity. An extension is possible for 60 days at a time and can be applied for a maximum of two times. The maximum length of stay with a B211a visa, including the two extensions, is therefore 180 days.

Application at the Immigration Office

The extension of the B211a visa must be done through the Indonesian Immigration Office (Imigrasi). This has locations in Denpasar and Singaraja on Bali. You have to go to the Imigrasi office three times in total for the process: once to submit the forms and your passport. A few days later, you have to go back to the office to give your fingerprints. A third visit is necessary to get your passport back.

The cost of each visa extension is IDR 2,000,000 each.

Extension through a visa agency

To save yourself the hassle of three visits to the Immigration Office (Imigrasi), we recommend using a visa agency. These take over two of the three visits, so that you only have to go to the immigration office once yourself. The visa agency staff will collect the documents, including the passport, from the applicants and take them to the immigration office. After the extension application has been processed, an agency employee will return the passport, including the extended visa, to the applicant.

The B211a visa, which was issued for 180 days from the start, cannot be extended.

Conclusion: apply for a B211a visa with support

In order to be able to fully concentrate on preparing for your trip, the B211a visa for Bali or Indonesia should ideally be applied for through a visa agency. Of course, you still have to provide all the required documents when using such a service. But firstly, you can outsource the bureaucratic process as much as possible. Secondly, you don’t have to worry about finding a sponsor yourself, which saves a lot of effort. Once you have placed the process in the hands of experts, you can sit back and relax until the visa is granted.
